Description
Coconut butter, made from the fleshy meat of the coconut, contains lauric acid, which boosts the body’s immune system. After breast milk, the most amount of lauric acid (a medium-chain fatty acid) is found in coconuts, so it is great for babies as well. Diseases like osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, certain kinds of cancer, and stomach infections can be kept at bay with coconut butter. It also reduces joint inflammation.
Coconut butter is also rich in fibre (and this is where it has an edge over coconut oil!) as well as iron, both essential nutrients to the body’s functioning. It can boost metabolism and aid weight loss when consumed in the right quantities regularly (2-3 tsp a day is recommended ideally). It is also great for the hair, skin and nails. Coconut butter can be used by itself, as a spread, or a condiment.
